The Northern Zone
Situated to the north of San Jose, the Northern Zone is a land comprised of rainforests, cloud forests, hot springs and two of the country’s most active volcanoes, Arenal and Ricon de la Vieja. Above all, the Northern Zone is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Lake Arenal boasts some of the finest windsurfing in the world as well as several fantastic mountain bike trails along its shores.
However, it is the Monteverde Cloud Forest that draws the majority of praise within the bounds of the north…and deservingly so, as amidst its towering canopy of green adrenaline enthusiasts may zip along over the floor below, while the less adventurous are welcome to walk along the suspension bridge.
