Honduras's Tegucigalpa
Tegucigalpa
Perched some 1000m in the towering pine carpeted mountains of Honduras, the capital city of Tegucigalpa is the charming product of progress and evolution. Originally a simple mining settlement nestled in the comforts of the lush valley, Tegucigalpa broke from its ancient confines to form the modern urban center it is today.
Centered around the Plaza Morazan, find the downtown hub of the capital dotted with colonial churches and a handful of interesting museums. Just outside the city wait the sister cities of Valle de Angeles and Santa Lucia, both classic colonial towns marked with sturdy churches, stone paved streets and brightly painted stucco buildings. For those more attracted to an energetic nightlife scene than historical attributes, Tegucigalpa offers its fair share of highlights.
