Panama's San Blas Archipelago
San Blas Archipelago
Combined with the 226km strip of Caribbean Coast stretching from the Colon Province to Columbia, the 400 islands of the San Blas Archipelago forms the Comarca de Kuna Yala, an autonomous region marked by jungle clad mountains and white sand beaches. Upon the numerous islands of the Archipelago, many of which remain uninhabited, find coconut fringed beaches and turquoise blue waters.
The islands that are inhabited are home to the Kuna people, a tribe that has ruled this region since the 1920’s with little interference from the government. Undoubtedly, travelers will find the inspiring introduction to these unique people one of the highlights of the trip, as their warm welcome and willingness to share their culture and traditions promises to capture the heart of every soul they touch.
